yea. it was easy. 8)

ended up getting schooled in a different manner all together this time. i'm going to press some shirts, "i survived dunkan rock and all i got was this lousy t shirt."
art, the pro is bomber...so long as you have enough. we need to get a crew together, combine all of our #4s and make an exodus to the base of what's left of the beeneling...

WLOTB and the beeneling are rad for sure. How are the anchor trees doing, or has someone added hardware? The trees seemed like a real mess when I was last there, 5-6 years ago.

pucker factor is high with this one boys. just standing at the base, looking into the abyss gets the heart rate kickin' before even leaving the ground.

ok, deep breath.

back in ’08 myself and a friend went to dunkan. we did frenchburg overhangs and the beeneling. we gawked with a mixture of pure fear and awe at what’s left of the beeneling, but were lacking daylight, gear and the balls to do it. this year, jay and myself have attempted to go back. three times. the first two attempts ended up with us wandering around in the woods, never even finding it. the third was yesterday. with all the leaves down, it was easy. just eye it from the road and make a bee line to frenchburg. so, i had been trying to get on what’s left of the beeneling for over a year and yesterday it happened. and it was ugly.

it starts with 20ft of straight in offwidth. after that, you crawl back into a cave, set a bomber #5 and start up about 20ft of flaring chimney that slowly squeezes down into an off fists splitter, forcing you out onto the face. this is where things went south for me. i got stuck trying to come out of the squeeze. completely exhausted, i had to take. it was dusk, still had over ½ the route to go and i was drained. not good. it ended up being an aid fest through the fists portion until i finally gained the ledge before the final section of the climb. i had webbing to set an anchor, so i slung a chocked boulder on the ledge and got the hell off that demon crack.

no. i am not proud that i chose to bail. on the upside, when this thing goes it will be pure, sweet victory.

wes,
the anchor trees are fine. it's the webbing that doesn't last a season. there must be some mutant rats up there. the webbing on frenchburg was chewed more than half way through and the webbing on wlotb was in shambles lying next to the tree.
i know it's on FS land, but man would it be sweet to have some chain at the top of those beene cracks. they are worthy.

Nice.

That looks so cool. Glad I haven't done the Beeneling yet so I can maybe get something out of the day besides a beating...

rj, the beeneling alone is worth the trip. we should all definitely plan on getting out there soon.

usually after such a vicious beatdown it takes awhile for me to get back into, “i wanna go back. it’ll goâ€

I've heard the beeneling is awesome.

The chimney looks like Good Times on steroids. And I can already see I'll be rubbing my magic lamp, hoping for a hidden hold, to get back on the face. Someone remind me to bring some kryptonite too; maybe we can disarm it a little through siege.

I'm all for cooler temps in order wear the necessary protective gear (read: long pants).

Looks like my palms are getting sweaty...
