Having been lost and now am found (a recovered Bible beater I am), I have experienced that it's the other way around. The best people I've met on this planet never stepped foot into a church.

you can be a christian and the catholic church would declare you a gentile for not respecting the pope, not being baptized, divorce, using birth control.. i know you believe christian is anyone that believes in the nicene creed.. but not all christians do.

LLR, can you list the "specific beliefs that link us"? I want to see if I really am a Christian or not.

I know the Catholics have a few extra books the Protestant's don't.
Mormans are different too.
How many translations are out there?

meadows, you can not be correct because you have a limited view point. The best people YOU'VE met on this planet have never stepped foot into a church. You are limited to your own experience and the number of people you've met. So, your conversion to gentile-ocity is based on the possible failure of your own experience. If you would only see it my way and rely upon my experience of meeting good people who HAVE darkened the door (notice cool phrasing) of the house of the loruhd, things would be better!!

can you tell me why we have mormons, baptists, southern baptists, pentacostal, apostolic ... geez, the list goes on.

these are the fundamental beliefs all Christians hold (except maybe Mormons), but it gets more complex then that. For example, LLR, a pentacostal would probably chastise you for posting the tangas that you wear because it's not an example of using your body as God's temple. I guess what I'm saying is that the difference of opinion is lifestyle ... and worship practice.

llr, where do you stand on capital punishment? on abortion? on cloning? on birth control? on women's rights? on divorce? on sex?

this is what the question was originally about: she was saying that different denominations have different opinions about what is "good" and "bad" and therefore it depends on which you believe in that defines what would be good or bad to you, as you thought it was a universal moral system.

LLR, thanks for the verses. I think I am in line with all those things, so my afore stated Christianity is okay.

The question for me is:

"if my faith is based on this, then what use is it to argue over something as trite as say "evolution", or whether or not that one tela-tubbie is promoting homosexuality?"

i wish to have a quality relationship with my creator... it's a personal thing.
