Is JH the same as Grant? This stuff is really stale.

pigsteak, those playboys are like the 'naughty words and flames' that are supposed to stay in the flame forum on this board - I don't have a problem with keeping them where they belong. They are still available to the people who want to read them. My question pertains to the ideas and opinions J.H. (and others) express here. Does anyone really want them censored? I agree that the delivery often needs work, but I don't feel comfortable with the idea of someone (me in particular) going in and deleting or modifying his posts. I won't do it. I don't even feel good about asking him to do that, to be honest - which I did. I'm just curious if the people who voted to censor J.H. really think he should be censored.

Personally I voted for the shallow grave option. Someone even donated a body bag for the gear sale and I briefly considered purchasing it.

Given the context of the poll, I just thought it was a typo. It read like he was meaning censured. ( I didn't vote, I wouldn't vote for censoring. I might have voted for ________
{insert your favorite brand of torture} )

Sandy - I think in this case, expecting folks who choose the option to censor JH to really mean it is like expecting those who choos the last option to really mean that too.

I agree with pigsteak that censorship is a good thing. The Flame Forum is censorship at it's finest. How many threads have been started that were moved the Flame room?

I think the moderators here do a perfect job at controlling things when they get out of hand. I wouldn't want to change a thing. :)

My 2 cents:
It would be really nice to be on a forum that would offer insight, information, and a friendly atmosphere (attitude). I would personally welcome the lack of swearing, "yelling", bashing, and flaming that take place on this forum.
All of this may be bringing the wrong perception of climbers at the Red - because, yes, other climbers from out of state visit this site. Is that the image we want people to have of us? Of the Red?

Artsay, thank you.

Vic, I hear ya, but think about the history of climbing and climbers. We've always been a bunch of scrappy, opinionated, social misfits... why should this BBS be any different? We do try to keep the flaming and the really nasty stuff on the suck forum. That way you have a choice to read it or not, eh?
