@clif....Can I say "all of the above" plus healthcare reform. I have said I don't like Romney, but I sure as hell don't like Obama either. I am much more libertarian leaning anyway. For instance, propping up the housing market has and will cause more long term problems than just letting values settle back to where they should have been all along. People made bad decisions and foreclosed. Doesn't mean everyone needs a bailout. I am not for any type of wasteful government spending and deficit increases. At some point we will have to pay, and it will be harder later. We should have never been in Iraq. WTF are we STILL doing there. We also shouldn't have had the size of a role in Afganistan also. Get our troops out immediately, not next term. As a self employed business owner, don't force me to have insurance.

And this is going to sound contradictory also, but I think that one party needs to have house, senate, and presidency.....whichever party that is. when there is split party power, nothing gets done. Neither party wants the other to succeed. At least if one party had complete control, then blame could be easier to assign.

@clif....I would much prefer someone of those affiliations running the country, but it won't happen. And even with a Libertarian president, congress would not let any change happen. The reason we are not energy dependent is that each politition looks out for his/her own interests instead of the common good. For instance Coal producing states don't want solar thermal or wind to produce all the electricity. Or corn producing states like Illinois want to have ethanol pushed as an alternative, even though it is highly inefficient. Each serves his own interests. It is all BS.

...Mitch McConnell and other congressional "leaders" have even admitted that their primary agenda for the last 2 years has been ensuring Obama's policies did not succeed in order to discourage his re-election. In other words, self-described obstructionism has been their primary objective since 2010, not improving the economy, not helping Americans get back to work, not reforming the corrupt banking system, not doing much of anything in fact except blocking our emergence from the ditch W and his buddies dug. If anything it is impressive how much Obama has achieved in light of this cynical and self-destructive strategy.

Well said. I can't stand it when people blame Obama for the lack of progress--it's like they're not even paying attention.

The fact that Obama is still taking the high road makes me respect him even more.

Man, I can really respect this point of view. A couple cycles of all Americans doing this and we would fix a lot of our problems! The cynic in me says it ain't happening. This is one side of Obama that I absolutely detest.
