Weird man, I generally dig your posts. I have mostly considered you relatively well spoken and pretty much on the ball. You're def not winning any more respect with this thread and that last post continues to confuse me.

Can you please summarize and illustrate WTF your point is? People have been killed by and murders were hidden by instituted racial injustices down south 50 yrs ago? Wow, what a shocking development! Happens all over the world, all over the country, and my point is it's a mistake to consider it a characteristic unique to the South (even if it ever was). It's no worse here than anywhere else, and there are many other things we are and should be proud of around here.

Or reference Martin Luther King's comment in the 4th paragraph here:

or countless other, similar issues?......
Here's the difference between you and I. I have not criticized Chicago culture, or spoken as an expert on anything regarding such incidents. I don't consider myself an expert on such things and so I do not speak as an expert on such things. Maybe you should consider that for a minute.

When you tell me who we are, how we think, which states are the South, and why we should all be ashamed I take issue. It propagates ignorance and stereotype and yeah, cluelessness.

That, sir, is the credibility issue.

.........and yeah, you'll notice little things in my posts that are meant to be funny.

....you people, local grocery store, go the fuck back home.

These things are posted tongue in cheek, too subtle perhaps, but if it riles you up then I like it!

alan your second photo of the lynching is from OK. that's not the south.

most of all to say that anyone that has Dixie displayed is a racist, is just as closed minded and ignorant as the people you are trying to call out. the dukes of hazard had the rebel flag all over their car. we're they racist??? i think not. the only person they disliked was boss hog because he was a crooked man. if you don't like the duke boys then you are worse than a racist. you are a commie. and there's only one thing southerners really hate. a commie.

I once worked with this guy who had the rebel flag tattooed on his arm. He threw out his back and had to see a doctor, when the doctor turned out to be black he told me he then rolled up his sleeve to reveal the tattoo. I wonder why he would do something like that. It's probably because he wanted the doc to know how proud he was of his non-racist southern heritage.

I guess the point is that heritage is one thing, history is something else that is different than the present, but no matter what you argue historically, some symbols now have a meaning that will not easily be laid to rest.

or maybe this will be my new lucky charm and tattoo it on my forehead
