The interesting part is to take the "10 commandments" away from the fable of them being spoken from god to moses and look at the reality that people (the jews) wrote them for themselves. When you look at it that way you realize people/humans have come up with this "morality" not god. Those humans then just like us humans now needed order and rules and way to have a orderly society.Saxman wrote:But the 10 commandments are in the old testament which means you don't have to follow them.

I think that morality is fairly obvious, however there are always gray areas due to circumstances. As all humans are fallible and may not always make the moral choice, a divine set of rules was and is necessary for one to reflect upon while making decisions.
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared
A divine set of rules is a good way to try to get dumb people to do good things since they often cannot see the long term repercussions of their actions...but often backfires when they fly planes into buildings.krampus wrote:As all humans are fallible and may not always make the moral choice, a divine set of rules was and is necessary for one to reflect upon while making decisions.
Also, there's nothing in the gospels that would preclude Jesus from being gay or bi.pigsteak wrote:jesus never married, but it doesn't say he didn't have any concubines.
(concubines, not porcupines)
That's likely to be shocking to some people, but so what if Jesus was gay? What difference would it make?
