rarely do econamic events move the markets. the markets are a psychological monster that move on "perceived" events. markets discount 6-9 months into the future. notice the great crash of 08? it happened before our country entered this current economic mess. since March 2009, the markets are up anywhere from 50-80%..but the country still struggles....mr. market is forward looking. remember that.

Please inform me how my info is slightly misleading. Care to elaborate on the "grossly under reporting the other side of the story"

Platitudes. I give actual data and you regurgitate a platitude.

Look guys, I don't want to argue about when or if something happens. I started this thread to take a pulse of what people are thinking. How they feel about the future and to discover what peoples plans were in case of the "unthinkable". I wasn't trying to put myself up for personal attack (Wes all but accused me of failing to take personal responsibility. For what I don't know?) So anyway. If you don't think that anything is going to happen. Say so and be counted. But don't argue with people who think that we're in serious trouble economically speaking. Don't belittle those who take the time and make the effort to learn how to can foods, rely less on electricity and refrigeration. If you feel comfortable not having more than a few days of dry goods and water laying around. Fine. Don't run down the people who want to be a little more "personally responsible" for their own safety and well being. Nuff Said!!

I have not seen you on here until fairly recently, but contrasted against the historical flame wars on here, trust me you were not attacked personally. You asked people what they think. Many think that what you are doing is non-optimum. I think learning (anything) survival tactics is good. Putting all your energy toward surviving an economic/ system-wide crash is probably a misappropriation of effort (and bordering on irresponsible). Wes gave some good examples. You sound pissed off . . . if you are pissed off, may I ask why?

   That is very interesting. Clevis thought I might have taken that all personally and challenged someone to fight. All of that was never on a personal level for me. About the Christian thing, I do not want to be thought of as anti-Christian. I accept the criticism and am modifying my behavior. Can I help you in any other way pigsteak? I think you have elbow tendinitis from all the pot-stirring you do online. :? The thicker it gets the harder you stir.

The only thing worse than panicking, is realizing you're the only one who's panicked.
