again, as caribe offered, I was trying to stay on topic and we were discussing federal taxation. here is the bigger issue for me and I know caribe and I 100% agree...the huge war machine that the US has become is burdening our national debt. why raise more money "to do govt things" when we should quit invading these other countries in the first place.....the solution comes on both sides. I for one, would like to see restraint on both sides of the balance sheet.
more and more and more govt spending is not the solution...nor is bleeding a turnip.....lol

totally agree! i also break from many of my liberal friends in that i think we should raise the retirement age by 2-3 years. 65 belonged to an older era. with advances in nutrition and medical care (despite problems that still exist, of course) there's no reason why people can't work until 67-68. if we cut defense spending significantly, raised the retirement age by a few years, simplified the tax code, and had a reasonable raise on the taxes of the wealthiest americans we'd be halfway home!

No, there would be a massive federal surplus. We could have national health care and pay less in taxes
per capita.

The reason obama has not improved the economy in general has one of two reasons, a. he doesn't know what the fuck he is doing, $ 787 billion stimulus that didn't create any jobs but did make large payments to foreign banks and obama campaign contributors in an attempt to help them be a bit less tax delinquent, and then joke about the jobs which were never a focus being a little less shovel ready than he thought, wow, who would have thought the US economy would be the slightest challenge to someone who had been a community organizer? b. if the economy is addressed with sound policies that have shortened and eventually ended every previous recession then how could obama advance his leftist agenda? like rahm's statement let no crisis go to waste, an improvement in the economy would be an obstacle for further advancement of the govt, ie. who would want something as pathetic as obamacare when sound companies could continue to offer an atttactive healthcare insurance plan to it's workers? the assault on America's energy sector is economically absurd, we have abundant natural sources of energy that could fuel the needs of energy as well as support the research through grants and tax incentives to industries and universities pursuing alternative energy sources and clean burning technologies, in places like Iowa and the west wind energy is thriving, North Dakota is awash in cash because the feds can't refuse the energy production on private property, these places have found pragmatic solutions unique to their areas, why does it then make sense for the obama govt to pass sweeping resolutions against areas wishing to pursue their most pragmatic solutions, it is done because it furthers obama's idealogy of overriding federal government control and dependence- Fuck that Bastard

The current administration improved the economy . . .
Crankmas wrote:$ 787 billion stimulus that didn't create any jobs but did make large payments to foreign banks and obama campaign contributors
'Stimulus' is not free money, it is a low interest loan. Much of this money has been repaid. The USA still has a flourishing auto industry, thanks to these stimuli. These financial incentives were started by the previous administration. Any administration would have taken similar measures to protect the economy.

You mean the same guy who graduated Harvard Law School at the VERY TOP of his class?
The rest of your rant is FOX-NEWS misinformation. However, I think that you are going in the right direction. Your last post at least had some content. Better than your previous posts on RRC in which you faulted Obama for the racial characteristics of his face.

Crankmas played that card quit a while ago. I was disappointed to see that card; I spent some time trying to talk him out of it, but at least I know where he is coming from.
