The only holds we mark where I come from are the bad loose ones. If someone wants beta we just ask others or figure it out ourselves.
Just my 3 cents.
Why does the difficulty of the route matter? Is it ok to tick if you're a 5.15 climber, but not a 5.10 climber?

our overhung routes don't get rained on like the vert/slabby ones out west.

Yeah, and plenty of routes at Rifle, Maple, Smith, Malibu Canyon, and around Vegas are ticked up, not to mention a lot of boulder problems in Bishop. Not saying this is a good thing.

Tick marks are the equivalent of a mute person yelling beta at you as you climb. Maybe I sould just go around yelling beta to people as they climb. No difference.

Tick marks and beta is like this: Having sex with your new girlfriend for the first time and having the old boyfriend walk into the room and telling you what she likes.

Well at least the old boyfriend is saving you some time instead of just allowing you to fumble around like a jackass grabbing and twisting on stuff. Wait, are we still talking about climbing and tick marks?

I totally took the wrong pinch on those two big slopers above the bomber finger lock.

the slopers only work if your fingers are nice and warmed up

Working blue on a thread about blue tick marks. Uncanny?
