Questions???
Purchasing a pass before BBQ is open.
Purchasing a pass in off season.
Potential inconsistancies that may make the problem bigger later on. Bigger as in the pay to play fee.

Passes cannot be purchased nor can money be asked for. It's a suggested donation. Anything else will have legal ramifications if someone gets hurt on their property.
If this has to become work for them, they'd probably just assume close it. Mark is one of the busiest guys I've ever met and doesn't have time to manage letting us climb. Basically, tip toe in there, be quiet while you're climbing (as if you're in someone's backyard using something you don't want them to notice), and leave no trace you were there (and follow all their other rules). And if you enjoy climbing there (which you do if you're going there in the first place), then help the Meyers out and throw some bucks into the donation bucket.

Even easier, he could have a clipboard outside the door to the office where people have to write down their liscence plate number. Mark could then at his whim decide to check who has signed in. That way you know at least how many people are paying attention and it doesn't put as much of a burden on Mark and crew.

So, let's say this somehow gets shaped into something workable. What happens if someone lets out an ill timed "motherf*&$*r" while falling? Will it be game over?

And if you see someone not following through, LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT! It's ludicrous to believe this bbs will reach everyone that climbs at Torrent. We need to police ourselves folks. Posting signs can help, but won't be nearly as effective as face-to-face dialogue.
Having said that, self-policing, while sometimes uncomfortable and unpleasant, requires us to actually grab sack and verbalize our displeasure with the misbehavior of others. Not everyone will want to follow the rules or follow the positive example of others. If you see an "evil-doer", tell 'em to get their act together. Stern looks and the waggle of the finger ain't gonna cut it. Speak up. It's OUR responsiblity to make sure it happens if we want this cliff to stay open.

SIMPLE!!! If you cannot control your vocabulary while falling, then don't climb at Torrent. Everyone knows how they respond while climbing. There shouldn't be what ifs. That's like asking, "What if I forget not to shit on their property?"

a 15 to 20 foot fall is easily possible and normal. that is more than enough time to get torrent shut down.
I guess the actual point is that there is no way we can have 100% compliance. If one step out of the bounds leads to closure then Terry's pessimistic world view will become reality and Torrent will get closed.
It is my hope that if the climbers make a 90% improvement rate and there is a clear indication that we, in general, are respecting, Mark, his family, his property and his rules that minor and unavoidable transgressions will not get Torrent shut down.
It sounds like the common theme in Mark's comments was that climbers were taking the opportunity to climb at Torrent for granted and not giving RESPECT to the people and the rules there. I am cautiously optomistic that we will have a large enough majority of climbers clearly demonstrating respect that we will come back in his good graces.

i was watching a woman, who fell from below the top of Jedi Mind Tricks (V3) at the Pollengrains in Bishop, who let out a "f**k s**t god damn" between letting go and hitting the pad.

If anyone has ideas about materials to hand out or wants to meet to try and put together some cards and/or pamphlets, let me know. I think cards to hand out at the crags and pamphlets to put on windshields/pass out at Miguels,RRO,True North, etc, would be good.
