in much better style, you say Don? I'd have to disagree, if all he does is top rope....no offense to Bob, since I don't know him, but top roping is hardly "better style"...give yourself credit.

Halitosis Bob would spray on and on about some scary, hard , obscure trad first ascent that he had on-sighted and in the same breath elevate name-dropping to an art form. Lynnie (Lynn Hill), Scottie ( Scott Franklin), Russ (Russ Clune). He was on first name basis with all the greats of his generation. Yet he was so humble in his spray. I would ask Bob what he had been sending other than the above mentioned routes and with a straight face he would say he doesn't know the names of any routes he climbs. The names were unimportant to him. So one time he walks into Climb Time Lex. and starts his non-spray routine and I ask him, knowing what his answer would be, what he had been climbing lately. Before he could answer I said, oh I forgot you don't know any route names so we can't talk about climbing. His expression, PRICELESS!

Wish I could have seen that.
I will have to say that Bob showed Tim Harrington and I one of the coolest places in the RRG. It has nothing to do with climbing, just a curious historical site. But of course, Bob and Pam found it and showed it to the FS (who did not know about it already).
