Dunno about the homemade verson ("Clevis Multrum"?? ha ha), but looks like the high-end models starts around 4-8K on up (Australian site; one the American version prices are not listed):

Perhaps a good candidate for Access Fund assistance if Dr. Bob is interested in this solution (to one problem anyway)... they have been funding toilets at climbing areas around the country for years, and Torrent certainly warrants it. Either that a sign directing people to the gnarly portapotty at the beer trailer! ;)

I actually have real life experience in this. I owned and operated for several years a bio-let toilet. A friend of mine has copied the design and expanded it into a two holer. All you have to do is stir it about twice a week and then once it fets full, rotate it to the "cooking" area. It'costs less than a hundred dollars to build.

Ask them to make the climbers that climb there "stir" the tub and we'll be all set.Problem solved. No really, I think that this SOLUTION solves at least one facet of the "problem".Really, I do...think that...it solves it...yes,really.
I have no idea what's involved in getting a permission to build one. I thought it was decided by a land owner... are you saying there are zoning/building permits required?

Stirring... yeah, that would be a problem. At Smith, there were buckets with sawdust/wood shavings that you were supposed to throw into the hole after using, and that was all. I wondered about how often they had to be emptied. But I guess, since it is a State park, they actually have someone working there, whose job it is to tend the toilets. And it would be a problem here.

I have the solution to the stirring problem. It's not that big of a deal. Now some people will try to tell you that this isn't legal. But it is as legal as a port-a-pottie. Besides, they use these in state and national parks all over the world.

Like I said, You get permission and I'll build it.

Until Dr Bob is ready to offer more information there is not much more worth saying. We really don't even know for sure what the issues are and if he even wants help addressing.

Until Dr. Bob himself clarifies his issues, position and expected results it is all just conjecture and speculation... Not a great way to make any decision.

Ha!

Nit loves guidebooks.
Nit loves climbers.
Nit doesn't mind the crowds...actually, Nit likes the crowds--the more, the merrier!
Nit is tired of private crag whining, and really likes the way Grant does things.
Nit doesn't like the new, managed idea of climbing.
Nit just wants to climb.

Poor Nit--and his wit.
