Ted Edmonds is the state representative for Lee County and serves on the Economic Development and Tourism Committee. Does he know anybody important?

and the right Honorable Robert Stivers? I'm sure he's pro-poverty.

Anyway, if there is any kind of concensus on getting that road paved, these names should be common currency.

exactly, yes you might support kop, C+S, and a few others but they don't pull that many votes.

also, just because you drive some car that you may not be ablr to drive well is noone's fault but your own. i have a 4door honda that crawls out no problem and has done so with the road FUCKED. had a caddie down there, a van, a neon, no 4x4 some with no clearence. learn to drive, walk down the hill, (which IS ACCESSING land that the CC is trying to pay) so don't bring thay BS. also, the CC helps keep ALL climbing open. so if daddy dind'nt buy you the DoucheUV to go craggin brah, then go somewhere else.

what kills me is the stink of the shit some people raise over climbs that have been there AND gone BEFORE they ever started climbing. shit lots started in the NF and the SR was a boon for the overclimbed spots. however most folks act like there is NOWHERE else to climb. oh the SR full, muir full, maybe we should just park like a fucking retard, let the 8 dogs out, fire up the grill and camp our dave matthews butt fuck fest under some cliff with tons of other fuks.

yeah, that's what you should do, but bitch the whole time how there just isn't enough places to "get away" from the shit show.

Whoa Clevus, sorry, I didn't realize you were running the BOD now and expert of all things related to the PMRP. As indicated earlier in this thread the RRGCC is pursuing a solution to this problem, and they have even paid up to $2000 a year in the past to regrade the road (talk about a poor long-term investment of RRGCC $). So it doesn't seem like this matter is inappropriate for this thread. And I do think the regular stream of climbers getting stuck on the road, backing up traffic at the end of the day, and parking at the top of the hill is an annoyance for Triad--why else would the RRGCC have paid for the regrade in the past? Getting the road all jacked up, having climbers stuck down the hill and parking on top doesn't make us look especially good in their eyes.

Also, the issue with getting up the hill is a problem with clearance, not traction so AWD wouldn't really help. You can get in and out of there with any car really if you hit the hill fast enough, you just run a risk of damage every time you do it. Ultimately though, this issue isn't really about individual's problems with getting to the PMRP--it is about the cumulative damage to the road caused by the hordes of unknowing climbers visiting the Red every season from all over the world. It is not going to help to tell them all to "learn how to drive" or to buy a new car, and the problem is only going to get worse each year--you can't "teach" them all and people are going to continue to drive what they drive to get to these crags. The only actual answer in the long-term is to pave the hill--after the PMRP is purchased. Or we can just go on in denial and believe that a big truck makes you cooler than other people.

Lastly, I already own a drill and am happy to pay for my own bolts and/or replacement bolts when necessary. And the reason to own a small fuel-efficient car is it can get you to a lot more climbing areas all over their country without wasting tons of gas and $, rather than just a handful of crags at the PMRP.

I can't believe that you actually expect the CC to PAVE the county road.

You are out of your mind!

Hell, the only problem that I had with the CC was the closed meetings and the air of "Elitism". But seeing as how your unreal/stupid/self-entitled/unreasonable expectations are sprayed all over this thread. I can understand why they'd blow people off.

once again, 4dr honda accord, caddie, van, dodge neon. no tear ups, very little speed, just pick the line. my old nissan wasn't that great for it and i just went somewhere else or hitched a ride. fuck, most of the folks that go down there drive by themselves which is a big part of the lack of parking problem.

sure this isn't an end all but paving that road.....some of you need to drive around and see what some of the "paved" roads look like that are on that kind of grade WITH big oil trucks going up and down them. hell most state roads are just as jacked. paving is out of the question and what about the winter??? you want someone to come shovel and salt the hill for you then to??

tell you what, donate umpteen thousands of dollars (like many folks here who DON'T complain) or pay you r dollar here and there, (or none at all while not digging in the dirt with organized trail days) and just whine and complain. fuck really, its climbing for fucks sake. if you tearing your ground effects or the fact you veiw a car as some all mighty thing.......you know what. fuck it. stay at home, don't drive down the hill, don't give money, and just go the fuck away, eventually so will your climbing areas.

Are you blind or just not taking the time to think, Clevus?
charlie wrote:These discussions with Triad are ongoing. We know the road is a problem, but so far there aren't any terribly simple solutions.

In the past we donated funds ( $2K annually) for Charmagne and Lee county to grade it. It's on the radar, just haven't managed to work anything out with Triad yet.
There is also a posting from Meadows stating HER (sorry) only problem with paving the hill is that it could get more slick in winter.

The one suggestion I put forward in this thread was paving a small portion of the hill that gets into bad shape every season--after PMRP is paid off of course. Sort of like how there are sections of the road on the way to Solar/Dark side that are paved as well as the hill down to Sky Bridge. I agree Anti that it's probably too expensive and difficult to maintain... it would probably have to be a county effort rather than a private one unfort.

Anyway I don't have any other suggestions other than a better system for adding routes on USFS land, and I don't have any problems with the RRGCC and didn't put any forward in this thread. I don't think RRGCC should pay for rebolting and don't have any complaints with them really--I admire and appreciate the work they do. The one thing I do take issue with, however, is the childish and aggressively hostile tone of your postings. What's the deal?
