What if it were your backyard... and you allowed mountain bikers... and AND I decided to cut one of your trees to allow a faster turn (near your home) - you know... the tree that would potentially bring you a little bit of shade... what then?
Your statement would still remain unchanged?
(It's an honest question, aimed at making you realize that because someone let's us climb, it doesn't mean we can just build trails, bolt new routes, and cut what ever we please... I'd hope we would be thankful - no more no less)
I realize it's an honest question, vic. I earlier asked if permission had been granted from the owner for the route bolting, reflecting your concern. To be honest, if it was my land I'd be truly concerned with bolt holes drilled deep into the rock that will be evident for at least another thousand years.

I know this is a delayed, useless response but isn't that tree infront of Dragon Slayer, not "Crazy Weiners"?

think about that crippled chic that almost sued the NF because of the shitty bolting job at Military wall....but nobody thinks about that shit....
for the record, we've really stopped using the word "crippled" in this country... and moving towards more of a 'person first' language is a better representation of the individual, not emphasizing just the disability - the chic with the x disability.. rather than the x chic... get it? rather than saying that retarded boy we'd say that kid ted (generic name, not to represent anone on this board) that has mild downs syndrome. i won't piss on calling the woman a chic, i'm cool with that.

since this thread has led to group hugs and group therapy, i thought it appropriate to add in a little political correctness.

sprag, wouldn't it be really, really tough to sue the national forest for an injury on their land? maybe you can educate us all (again? nah, nevermind...)

and flashmaster, have you re-bolted anything at roadside to ensure safety for the masses? did you help w/ the last trail effort up there? if you've put in hundreds of hours of time maintaining trails, developing routes and cliffs, maintaining routes, then by all means, go ahead and criticize away. I don't mean to be rude, but i have a soft spot for the lurkist...

Is the zoo owned by the same people that own roadside?

Roadside is owned by climbers and I think that it would be horrible if anyone did anything without their say so!!

Meadows I think you are right; the tree is closer to Dragonslayer. This girl must have been close to off route and really launched herself out.

I am with the people that believe that climbing is a dangerous sport and you can't just bolt the hell out of everything to try to make it safe.

I also think that we should not alter the environment too much.

That's why Weber contacted the two owners so we can plan a trail day and hear their opinion on the tree. :D

Pete, I say crippled when I mean crippled. I say fag when I mean fag. You may be ready to drop half of your vocabulary for "PCness" I.m not gonna.

on the side, who tells you what is the "proper" way to speak. Crippled=disabled=handicapped=?? Where does it end, and to what gain. You should think before you speak. Or at least think of who you are speaking to
