pagan holiday? of course it is, just like christmas, halloween, and Omar Pulaski day ( a holiday in Illinois)...
bow down at the foot of the Passion of Mel Gibson, and take your beating like a humble servant.

Last time I checked the timing of Easter was close to correct (unlike Christmas). How this "bunny" thing got involved I don't know (for now). The Easter bunny and all that jazz may be a corrupted pagan holiday but I'm sure the rest of it isn't.
Now could you give me a sec. to put on my flame retardant suit?

Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.
thanks sandy...however, my search of religoustolerance.org said that the origins were not completley known, as both pagans and christians had been holding rituals for a very long time.
as far as the easter bunny getting beat in that news story....big freakin deal. it was a "play" to make a point.....don't even get me started on this one...we all watch violent movies, read violence in Iraq and around the world...make better use of your anger, and don't just be aghast at some "symbolic" play.
btw, why are so many people uncomfortable with western religion? just curious..all world religions have hypocrites, those who kill in the name of their deity, etc....is it because we are much more familar with christianity in America?
that other "mystical" religions seem to offer something different, whether it is bowing to nature, self, or buddha....
everyone worships something..we just get to decide what that "something is"..for many of us, it is climbing or a job...

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
from that link I posted above:
The Easter Bunny is not a modern invention. The symbol originated with the pagan festival of Eastre. The goddess, Eastre, was worshipped by the Anglo-Saxons through her earthly symbol, the rabbit.
The Germans brought the symbol of the Easter rabbit to America. It was widely ignored by other Christians until shortly after the Civil War. In fact, Easter itself was not widely celebrated in America until after that time.
As with the Easter Bunny and the holiday itself, the Easter Egg predates the Christian holiday of Easter. The exchange of eggs in the springtime is a custom that was centuries old when Easter was first celebrated by Christians.
From the earliest times, the egg was a symbol of rebirth in most cultures. Eggs were often wrapped in gold leaf or, if you were a peasant, colored brightly by boiling them with the leaves or petals of certain flowers.
Today, children hunt colored eggs and place them in Easter baskets along with the modern version of real Easter eggs -- those made of plastic or chocolate candy.

Piggie, perhaps people who have personal experience with Western religion know more about it and are therefore quicker to criticise. Perhaps they are even disillusioned with Western religion and are interested in Eastern religion because maybe they have found admirable qualities they believe are lacking in Western religion?
