I'll rub your nose in it and hit you with a newspaper.

jordancolburn wrote:You'd be hardpressed to find someone out climbing who wouldn't help you out as long as you were courteous, followed the rules and realized you're not the only one out on the wall. This thread is mainly making fun of people who show up to the wall to do their rad project(5.9-) take up the wall all day, litter, talk loudly and spray about the 5.8 they sent the weekend before, and have little regard for other people. Nobody wants to help guys like that out, they wouldn't listen anyway.
first off, don't take anyone on here too seriously. most of the folks on here, (maybe some) would help you or anyone out if need be. what they act like on here is the venting from being that way. (it sucks to be nice sometimes) don't be too put off by monkeys in boxes on boxes.

courtesy is a two way street. you tell me i'm an idiot and i won't listen to you. i act like an idiot don't be turned away. might be one and need a little guidance. ignorant is when you don't know better. stupid is when you go against the knowledge.

and no mrcolburn this isn't directed at 5.8 climbers(or ANY grade for that matter) all those traits you listed have been seen from the 8s to the 13s. yardsales of gear, mobs, dog nonsense, hogging a route(hugh you still owe keenan and i steak) all the spray. where do you think these "kids" learn this stuff>???

Oh, I know. My only experience with people hogging routes is with 5.8 because those are the routes I'm trying to get on! i was also trying to show this thred was making fun of people who take themselves way to seriously with climbing, and act like jerks (I suppose that's still true with true with a lot of climbers .easy-.14, you shouldn't have an attitude, theres always someone better so just have fun :) )

i don't view them as better than me/you who the F ever. so if one has the "experience, grade, and time in at, say their "home crag" does that give them any more right than the next person?? if at "your" crag do you have the right to cut line, hog routes, dp what the fuck ever because this is "your crag" (i say all this having drank my share of beers or being obnoxious but i never left my cans or caused safety problems) or do you think that if its "your" crag you should try to be an example(and a good one at that) of what your area means to you?
i like to cut up and have fun but not if someone isn't respecting our place. you shit on the trail/don't bury, i'm going to call you out. you do sketchy things, called out. keep doing without learning; i'll take the time to teach, then call out.
what i'm saying is before you unlaced shoe warm-up on your 1373rd burn on awol,bando-queers, chainsaw, whatever; think about whos around you. are you just "that girl/guy" or are you "this guy/girl at the red who was super cool to us, helped us out, etc, etc" doesn't take all day and sometimes you'll never know it. its just as simple as giving your turn, you'll be back next week anyway for lap 1354.

I am beginning to wonder what is worse...... Terminal Gumby or Filthy Chuffer.

Luckily the Gorge has enough of both to support years of research.
