onsighting takes more of a skillset than redpointing.
redpointing is all about beating a route into submission. the closer these two are together, the better climber you have become.

Dude you have the most amazing grasp of the obvious.

So kudos to you, Mr. Obvious.

I agree to an extent pig, but there are some that are afraid to progress, and therefore never really project anything over their current limit.

ur welcome trey....or is it tray.....I only usually use trey when talking to my brothas...so brotha, peace out. or is it brother when talking to a brotha?

dang, I feel like a team crust member just trying to figure this one out.

for me, the inverse is true. I have redpointed 12a, but onsighted 13a....go figure...so if my onsight is harder than my redpoint, do the babes come?

I agree with most of this pigsteak. But.....

I think you might be underestimating the skills/mindset needed to redpoint at your personal limit. I have seen plenty of people look worse and worse on a route. Albeit there could be tons of other factors but to me it seemed like they might just suck at mustering up enough gusto to deal with a route that had, in their mind, defeated them.
