Yeah, we saw coppies of the new book and it was much better. Unfortunatly, the only locals we met were at the nice sunny sport walls so there was no one to ask at black velvet canyon. I guess they are not used to winters at the red. Now, 512OW, choosing a wrong trail out of several that all appeart to lead in the right direction is one thing, but don't ever clasify me as someone who can't figure out what 6.2 miles and a large picknick area are. I bet they also thought Ruby Slippers was pulling pockets.

The one party was trying to figure out what the bolts beneath "Roadside Attraction" was. It was their second time to "Roadside".

Classic.

I feel ya, krampus. My partner Rachel and I had a time finding Levitation 29 last winter. Took us longer to find it than to climb it.... then even longer to find our way out.

i hate the black velvet hike. You know exactly where you want to go, but it is possible to miss the trail that actually takes you there.

And the hike down sucks too.

the falcon guidebook for red rocks has some serious and potentially life threatening mistakes in it. it is one thing to be vauge it is another to get a 2.5 hour descent in the backcountry completely wrong.
