Chris Rock wrote:The whole country's got a fucked up mentality. We all got a gang mentality. Republicans are fucking idiots. Democrats are fucking idiots. Conservatives are idiots and liberals are idiots.

Anyone who makes up their mind before they hear the issue is a fucking fool. Everybody, nah, nah, nah, everybody is so busy wanting to be down with a gang! I'm a conservative! I'm a liberal! I'm a conservative! It's bullshit!

Be a fucking person. Listen. Let it swirl around your head. Then form your opinion.

No normal decent person is one thing. OK!?! I got some shit I'm conservative about, I got some shit I'm liberal about. Crime - I'm conservative. Prostitution - I'm liberal.

I can write a document and solve an equation. Maybe I'm not as smart as some of these people but I'd bet my paycheck I'd fit in the useful to society column a hell of a lot more than most of them.
That's because lexmark recruits super-nerds.

Charlie - English majors are smart, Chris Rock is smart, but social sciences type's come out with some of the stupidist crap imagineable. For a real laugh you ought to check out what K C Johnson has written on the academic background of some members of Duke's Gang of 88.

The people that did that study were neuroscientists. Read the article, the tests were reaction time tests and real-time brain scans. There was a marked difference in the way self-labeled conservatives reacted to these tests both inside the brain and in how they reacted to changing conditions. But since that's science I'm sure you think they've got an agenda or there is a great deal of doubt. Typical modern right-wing behavior: facts contradict your world view so you attack the source of the facts. Only a "conservative" would think he is not more rigid and less adaptable than everyone else. Every single last person that still supports Bush considers him or herself to be conservative.

How about Joe Lieberman? He's not a liberal? Point conceded concerning neuroscientists . They're the real deal, unlike lots of academics.

Joe Lieberman is not a liberal. He was a conservative Democrat. I know this may come as a surprise but until the aftermath of Nixon there were liberals and conservatives in both parties. The neo-con revolution within the Republican party pretty much drove out all but a vanishingly small number of moderate or liberal members. There are still a great number of moderate and quite a few conservative Democrats still in the folds though the conservatives have been abandoning ship in search of the deep pockets provided by the GOP base.
