charlie , i actually am planning on getting a pad prior to a harness!

you need to replace the foam after every fall to be safe!

I do about 4-5 rope replacements before I do a harness replacement.

Harnesses are replaced by pads, yet pads replaced real skills.

Err on the side of caution. But the advice to "replace it after any significant fall" sounds a bit silly.

They say this for the obvious reason... To protect there hind end! I go through 3 to 4 ropes a year and only one harness. This is with an average of 200 days of use per year.
