i bike almosy everyday in the summer. i almost never take the lane unless its a single lane on a steep hill or something. I have noticed that people freak out when i get over on the left side to make a turn. jus seeing a bike on the left side of the lane does something to their minds. with gas being so high though - people have been a lot nicer in traffic.

I agree KD, I get that too on my way to work every day. In fact just today I was riding by the day care and some lady point at me and all I heard her tell the kid was "thats the guy ...." I guess I do look pretty silly with my tie flapping around my helmet.

I always assumed you were one of those Jehovah's witnesses, Joel.... I am afraid to ride my bike in Louisville.... it is a death wish, pretty much.

I ride my bike to work in downtown Louisville every day. I've only had a couple of people yell at me to get on the sidewalk. Its awesome b/c I can bike to work quicker than I can drive, b/c the bike rack is on the first floor of the garage, while I have to park my car on the 6th or 7th floor! Unfortunately, the only bike lane on my way to work is on the right side of a one way street, from which I am turning left. So, I never even use it b/c I figure its safer to get in the left lane for 2 blocks than it is to cut across 3 lanes of traffic. DMW, don't be afraid. Its not nearly as scary as they would like for you to believe, plus its a huge stress reliever. One minute, you're bitching about work, the next...Yay...you're out riding your bike! How cool is that!

If you've got your head up and are aware of who's ahead and behind you can bike anywhere in the world. I'll tell you, Louisville is a biker's paradise compared with Italy. Those motherfuckers can't drive for shit.

I'm with you Christy, I don't usually feel scared in downtown louisville, and parking and walking actually takes me long than biking to the front door. Its nice. I do dress like a mormon sometimes, just for shits and giggles.

I did almost get run over by some Mormons on their bikes a couple of weeks ago. Somebody needs to teach those fuckers how to ride! I hope it wasn't you krampus! But seriously, its the sketchy pedestrians on Broadway when I'm riding home at night that worry me more that traffic. Maybe some pepper spray?

pepper spray for the mormons for sure. I can infiltrate their ranks and with any luck get them all from the inside. And for the pedestrians, maybe a small bag of rocks.
