That being said, I use lots of chalk and tick holds all the time. Oh well.
chalked holds are a little easier to bullshit as calcium on the rock. the footlong solid white line is not and is more eye-catching from a distance. Not whining, just stating an observation. i do brush them off thank you. i won't say something if i wasn't going to be part of the solution.

oh well, way to be part of the solution.
also some people enjoy climbing as a way to problem solve and figuring out where to go. tick marks steal a little bit of that. you and your seeing eye dog have fun out there.

oh yes, call it a comeback

Actually, ticks and mosquitos are key for transferring viruses, and thus very important in evolution...
As for the other rrg tick, I don't really care one way or the other, but if you are going to tick something, please follow this simple rule: Tick hand holds below the hold, and feet above the hold. Thanks much for your cooperation.

chalk on the walls/holds and tick marks all look the same to me. chalk on holds tell me just as much about a hold and give me clues during an onsight attemp as do tick marks. Learn to read the chalk and tick marks, they are part of the process of climbing at the rrg. Go to the New or elsewhere if you want "pure" onsights with no chalk and no tick marks.
Chalk and tick away my friends. My only request and to brush the holds once and a while so to increase friction and grip on holds.
