Yes, I need a new dog(s) :( However, I don't have nearly the time to dedicate to a dog that I would like. Also, will be leaving the country for a month soon, then coming back to have my knee rebuilt... Once I am done with school in December, I may give it a shot. Just depends on work. I've been taking some work as a dogsitter...

I really am dying to have another dog(s) . Would love to take one of these pooches (if it works out like that), but I just can't. Think of the rope gun possibilities though!

For now, I just hope the pups make it out okay... If I didn't know two guys were already heading out, I would be in my car with all my gear and one knee to do what I could... Sounds like it is covered though. Please keep us posted.

powen01, are you getting an artificial knee? My doctor says I need one, soon. My knee is at least 30 years older than I am.

Just got word from Kim that they have one dog on its way out. The operation is still in progress. But I heard something about a tail wag :D

Yay for the pup:)

Pru: I'm getting an ACL reconstruction. I'm not to the point of needing an artificial knee (I'm 30), but if I were to keep playing soccer after this surgery, I probably would end up needing one or two by 60 or 70. So I have to quit playing soccer and only climb and do light running after recovery in the summer of '08.

Don't know how total knee replacements are these days... What's the word from your doc besides you needing one? Quality of life? Recovery time, etc? Best of luck with that. And just remember, there's always aid climbing. :)

good job Artsey. People get into Heaven or come back as climbers and get to climb for another lifetime for good acts like this. Real karma points.

Well, they got the dog out. There was only one. I don't know all the details yet. Cliff isn't getting good reception, so I'll update you guys after work. I think there might even be pics. Its a yellow lab &/or golden retriever, he/she was glad to be rescued and seemed healthy. The dog is on her way to get a check-up at the pound and Michelle has found him/her a home.
What a happy story!

Hooray for Joe and Cliff!!!!

I feel so proud to have been such a small part of this hugely successful woofer rescue!

The props go to so many people that cared to care. HUGE thanks to Joe and Cliff who did the task that no one else could do (literally), Kim the animal shelter volunteer who never gave up trying, and Vratislav, a co-worker who spotted him on Sunday and contacted me today just because he heard I was a climber. Then there's Stephanie who was the liason that brought all the right people together as well as so many other folks who were there at the rescue site whom I don't even know.

It's one thing to love our sport and a whole other thing when it saves a life as it did today. Oh yea, and they're calling the pup "Clifford", named after his rescuer (and also maybe because of the whole "cliff" aspect?).

Clifford already has a home with a co-worker of mine who didn't bat an eye when saying, "I'll take him!".

What a great story! :D
Does he have a strange bear claw like appendage protruding from his neck? He kep petting it.
