Zombies are real

Not really ... go to any new age or apostolic church. Tears flow enough to create another Angel Falls. I never understood why people were so maudlin in their worship or mention of their faith.SCIN wrote: Why tears? Because tears are the greatest and most difficult sign of emotion to generate.
if any/all religion is bogus, wouldn't exploring different religions just be a double dose of child abuse? better to completely take faith off the table.dmw wrote:I don't think children are given the opportunity to explore different religions and belief systems with an open and unbiased slant from their parents, guardians, whomever. Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
The same can be said for the level of commitment any scientists a few hundred years ago had to have when the "Believers" came to bash thier heads in literally for blasphemy, now the shoes on the other foot.gunslnga wrote:Based on the type of faith a Christian has to have when all "non-believers"Saxman wrote:Then, once the life saving scientifically provided event saves their life, they thank god instead of their doctors and the scientists who provided the technology the doctor uses.

Parents are going to teach they're beliefs, and will not be tolerant of other belief systems, I dont agree with blinding your kids to other beliefs, but allowing them to openly practice separete beliefs, you know little or nothing about, when they're young minds are absorbing so much already, is putting alot of uneeded pressure on them. I dont see this as indoctrination, only preset parenting, learned from our parents. I studied several religions, philosophies, and cult beliefs in my search for what I will call, "a path to enlightenment" I eventually pulled what I liked from taoism, confucianic theory, and zen, mixed it with Christianity and have been happy ever since. I will teach my daughter Christianity, I trust that if this is not fullfilling to her, she will do as she pleases when the time comes and I will back her in anything she does. When I was in public school, we were taught the basic differences of the different religions and philosophies, but were not taught any practices, we had a good understanding without pressure of belief, then some liberal parent went overboard and the school superintendent shut that class down, so since then we are now only aware of the medias version of said religions/philosophies when wars happen because of conflict between the religions.dmw wrote:I don't think children are given the opportunity to explore different religions and belief systems with an open and unbiased slant from their parents, guardians, whomever. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.....
is it putting pressure on your children or on you? If I had a kid and didn't know anything about being a Sikkh should I prevent my child from learning/making the decision to practice this religion based on the fact that I am unfamiliar with it, and somehow this would cause undue stress to my child??? I think if more people allowed their kids to LEARN with an open mind then the world in which we live would probably be very different from how it is now. Why should a child be taught to practice a default religion, one that you have chosen for them?
in response to your "liberal parent going overboard", I can bring up yoga as an example. some "christian conservative" complained in the school systems that their kids were being taught some horrible strange religious beliefs in P.E. So there you have it. no more yoga.
wars also happen because of money.

Yeah, but while science changes daily, and most results are only as good as the next experiment, Christianity has for the most part, remained the same. I appreciate the technology and medical advances brought to us by science, but if I believe it was all because god gave them the intelligence to do it, then what happened to scientists in the past, has little or nothing to do with how I feel today when people try and disprove a supreme being with beekers and test tubes. I originally stated on several other similar posts, believe what you want, I wont press my beliefs on you and don't bother me with yours, I think we all would be much happier.JS wrote:The same can be said for the level of commitment any scientists a few hundred years ago had to have when the "Believers" came to bash thier heads in literally for blasphemy, now the shoes on the other foot.gunslnga wrote:Based on the type of faith a Christian has to have when all "non-believers"Saxman wrote:Then, once the life saving scientifically provided event saves their life, they thank god instead of their doctors and the scientists who provided the technology the doctor uses.
