partying like a big pig????? now wait one second there.....
saxman, don't embarass yourself by denying the justice that was had with this death. spider and slinger, don't deny the major embarasssment W has caused our country with his god awful war he created. no one has won in the end.
saddam's death is some justice for all his victims, but it still does not justify our original reason for going into Iraq....no amount of spin will ever justify that. W got the WMD assessment wrong, very wrong, and it has been a sad spiral downward.
I hope those Iraqi families find some peace from this. As I hope the families of dead american servicemen and women do. Death and murder is NEVER the right answer, no matter who you kill.
Soapbox off.

I agree with what Tony Blair said.

Wrapping death and murder up in one package is equivocation, pigsteak. And as far as death resulting from war, I would say that history has demonstrated it to be viable solution in many cases.

The first time we used violence in the area was to prevent Iraq from completing an imperialistic land grab at Kuwait. The second time was because UN weapons inspectors were continually refused access to primary cites. If we thought they had WMD, it is at least partly there fault for implying it through there lack of cooperation. If Saddam had let the UN inspectors do their inspections, he could have very conceivably still been in power.
Hussein's hanging is a significant historical event.

Those guys have to live in Iraq, they have families who love them and would miss them should some Sunni baathist recognise they're Faces there might be revenge acted against them. We used to do that here for a long time, I don't think we practise that anymore, goes way back to merry old England. I believe at one time it may have had a superstitious reason as well, something about souls of the condemmed or something, google it.

I like to watch the videos of Saddam and Rumsfield shaking hands and acting all buddy buddy; goes to show the range of judgement the US can pass on one individual. Following the Iranian revolution when we started to give Saddam intelligence and weapons to combat the power of Iran in the region we though he was a pretty upstanding guy. Oops did he use US made weapons to carry out genocide? Our bad we thought he was ok.
