H.R. 6166 MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT OF 2006
Section 948a...Andrew wrote:Just read the beginning definition of what is considered a alien combatant enemy. and who the people who decide are.
(3) ALIEN- The term `alien' means a person who is not a citizen of the United States.

Andrew;
This bill makes me nervous, but I think most of your points are incorrect. I cannot see where any of this applies to a US citizen. I have not read it entirely, but I see you have. Did you see places where this applies to a citizen?
Thanks,
M.
No chalkbag since 1995.
If you read it says that citizenship can be revoked if you are considered an enemy combatant.
What you need to understand is how vaguely it is written. That is why it is so scary. Look how many times it will say the president and secretary of defense have the right to make certain decisions.
Increadibly vague=increadibly scary. Too many ways to interpret it.

Living the dream
Did anyone else see the 'Daily Show' when Stewart asked McCain wether his "Straight Talk Express" was making a detour into "Bullshitville" (or something like that) and McCain nodded and said, "Yes."Wolf wrote:which is why Mcain and others insist that this bill finally, really, absolutely makes torture illegal, while people who've actually read it and are paying attention say that this bill actually makes it legal.
McCain is running for the Republican nomination for president in '08. A man who was tortured is willing to authorize the 'semi-torture' or 'near torture' of others so he can be president. Nice.
Don't forget in all of this that not only does it mean that people will be semi-tortured. It also means that Shrub and the Nixon Crew are bringing shame on America and taking it way, way off the moral high ground (which helps out al Qaeda in it's claims that the US is evil). The thing to remember here is that the people who do the torturing are also damaged in the process.

How cliche, come up with a solution, other than denouncing your citizenship, while hiding your head in the sand. I listen to a lot of the same rhetoric, but this one bothers me the worse! You know what they say, Rats will desert a sinking ship, this one may be listing on it's right side, but we are far from sinking. What does this say about your belief in your canidates??? On second thought, Canada may be the place for you, just one less wasted vote that better men than yourself have paid the ultimate price for....Good luck up there, have a Molson, watch some hockey, and embrace the maple leaf.dyno_heaven wrote:exodus to canada, anyone like to join me?

Here! here!pigsteak wrote:I bet this is a conspiracy by Shrub. The law is written to apply only to his presidency, and will expire as soon as he is out of office. Conspiracy, I tell ya...conspiracy.
Get rid of the bum.
what good can come of this if it has an expiration clause after he's dethroned??? what good could have come of it anyway???
like we needed to look any worse than we already do!
