Its a an ugly story for sure. I've heard that Don Fig helped rescue Hughes and has some nasty details about that foot injury.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Liked the Zoo a lot. Again those small arches are cool and it is a wonder that people don't hike up there just to see them. There were only two other people there besides my partner & I. We warmed up on Put Me In The Zoo. Then we did One Brick Shy & recovered the other peoples rope which got stuck when they were pulling it. We were kinda wondering about the quicklinks that someone put on the anchor hangers? We finished off on Geezers Go Sport. A stellar route and one of the steepest .11's I've ever been on. Then to finish on those slab moves. That freaked my partner but I eat up slab.

Man, next time you're up there check out "Hippocrite" and "Scar Tissue" which is the route to the right of Hippocrite. They are worth the hike.

I think John was smoking crack when he bolted One Brick Shy. Did you like it?

I am assuming those are the .12's at the end? If so, we did walk down there & looked at them. The throws to those huecos looked rad! We had gotten a late start that day so had limited climbing time. I didn't either like or dislike One Brick Shy. It wasn't that aesthetic but it was a plausible line. For my next time at the Zoo I would ask about the new route next to OBS, is it any better or more of the same?

I'm not sure about that route. Monkey in the Middle is pretty cool though man. I think it's about 5.11b or something.

Yea, the throws to the huecos on Hippocrite are rad!
