At least he's climbing it correctly. Both my feet are usually on the right side of the wall. Talk about wasted energy.

If he didnt reach and put in all the poor placement, it would be called free soloing (rope tagging behind or not) And that would make him liable for a crag closure and community pojectile vomitting.

Mental gear probably won't keep you off the deck any better than no gear at all. Don't worry, I'll allow you to demonstrate when I take you out trad climbing.
