urinate generously on the area of foul odor. Allow to settle for 3-4 hours then urinate again on the area. After that wash them with cool water. Works like a charm....or does it?

Last summer my harness smelled like that wet towel you left in the trunk of your car for the entire month of July. I put it in the wash and it seemed to help quite a bit but it started to stink again pretty quickly. I wonder if you put some of those odor eater plastic balls in your climbing bag if they would help cut down on the smell by absorbing the moisture.

Baking soda works wonders for absorbing odors. Fill some socks with backing soda and stick in your shoes for a day or so. That should help.

Another preventative measure is to make sure you take your shoes and harness out at home so they can air out. Leaving everything crammed in your pack keeps things wet for days. At the end of the day, I always just clip my shoes to my pack so I don't have to remember to pull them out when I get home.

Just put you harness and rope in the hot sun to keep it fresh and dry. Thats what I do.

this tip from R & I get a spray mist bottle, combine rubbing alcohol with pitchuli? oil and spray mistly when ready to store shoes/gear awhile/ alcohol will evaporate leaving shoes/gear with another totally disgusting skanky smell for you to deal with at a later date FREE CHONGO
