but don't we hear what wes is saying..(allow me to speak for you wes....)

so many folks refuse to put in the time to become proficient at their sport. but they want the "inclusiveness" of the "club" without paying the dues. they like to say 'I am a climber" without the pain of attaining a certain level.

it is like a 12 minute mile "runner" saying they are a runner. no, you are not. you are a recreational jogger/walker.

i don't know what the cutoff for defining this folks is, but I do know pigsteak should establish a new corollary to put everyone at ease. if you don't make my desiginated cutoff, pie at miguels will cost you 20% more for all us "real climbers" who have to put up with your gumby spray, REI tents, perfectly shiney draws, two cams and a set of unused stoppers, and well coifed "grub-dom" you bring from your suburban college dorm....

stand by...the clarifying moment of truth is at hand.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

pigsteak, question -

What if you're a has-been? You know, you used to run 6 miles at 6 minute/mile - are you still a runner? Or you used to onsight .12s and redpoint .13c. Still a climber? I need to know for legal purposes.

I think everyone can be a climber. Some use climbing to advance fitness/ athleticism goals, and some have more moderate fitness goals. Both enjoy the social aspect of the community. Its all good.

I can't believe this troll is still working.

This tired conversation is yet another reason why I don't consider myself a climber. It's just selling yourself way too short to brag/be comfortable with the fact that that's what you are and all that you are.

Wow, you see me just pass judgement on everyone? Maybe I'm more of a climber than I think I am!

Human nature condemns us all. Here we are catergorizing climbers who catergorize climbs. If "fun" to a person is chasing numbers, why is her delusion so troubling? Is it because they are climbing harder than you for the wrong reasons? To the elite people, is not training all the time and feeling the pressure to make every climb an advance in endurance/strength/movement/speed somehow a statement that you are too driven and therefore foolish? Look at all the insecure people.
