Vitamin I reduces inflammation though, right? Doesn't that lead to reduced pain?

I prefer alieve, rather then advil, the gel caps are the bomb, yo! And if you are worried about that class of drugs, you can try plain old asprian to help get you moving in the morning, and save the good stuff for pre or post climbing.

Reduced pain, yes! Masked pain, no! It's all perspective.

true dat, SCIN. Vit I is an anti inflam. It steps in and short circuits the chemical cascade that begats the inflammatory chemicals that ultimately cause injured tissue (distal finger joints wracked with trauma secondary to dynamically loading them in your backyard chamber of horrors) to swell and hurt.
Stopping the inflammation with drugs will stop the pain- but unless you stop the exacerbating trauma, the injury will inexorably progress to its final and terminal outcome- Fred Beckey Finger (or FBF in medspeak).
I think bouldering statically (not doing crazy jumping around stuff), and observing the crust regimen- bouldering once a week and drinking beer 4-5 times a week- might help.
note- beware of the stomach. increased heart burn or gnawing hunger pain while taking big doses of vit I, Aleve, Asprin, (insert any anti inflam - not Tylenol though) means it is time to back off, and take some other medicine- like Zantac. Take Vit I with food helps mitigate this. Drinking copious beer/ spirits will make this (stomach side effects) much more probable.
please consult your local MD or guy hanging out in the parking lot at Miguel's before initiating any pharmacotherapy.

Damn, if I ever need a doctor then I'm going to contact Lurkist. I especially liked the part about the beer 4-5 times a week! :D

Thanks to Mrs. Pigsteak for diagnosing my condition in about 1/2 second. Looks like I have Heberden's Nodes. Does anyone else have this? I just want to know if it is going to get worse or not. Here is a picture. I have these at the ends of each of my fingers now:
