I can't see where it can hurt.
How many times have you seen "out of town" climbers at Miguels, sitting out front on a picnic table thumbing through a back issue of Climbing, Rock and Ice, or a Prana or Black Diamond catalogue?
Have some pamphlets for 'em to read.
Make it an interesting read.
Who knows, it may work.
Some folks might even leave the Red and think back that "It was pretty cool that the locals care enough about their area that they even have this information available."
I agree mag articles help, but not everyone reads Climbing and R&I either...

What about having RRGCC meetings once amonth at miguels out back on a saturday night that way everyone that climbs at the red and stays at miguels will be able to participate and have a little say in what happens and what is going on. We as climbers arent totally informed on what is happening all the time. expecially the ones that dont check out the Message Board. it would be great that during the peak seasons that we have a meeting once or twice a month at miguels to bring about these issues. And if people dont want to listen the the coalition then we get a bunch of guns and make them listen

mc rib, i have to 100% disagree with your assessment.
just 3-4 weeks ago, i was at torrent and a group of very regular fellows were there. let me just say their profanity laced falls were very embarassing for me as the couple with the two children sat and watched. worse yet, even when they knew the kids were below, the cursing continued.
nice to think that "the regulars" are above it all, but i think we give ourselves too much credit with that assumption.

Gyms would be an ideal place to leave such a pamplet.

Gyms, RRO, Miguels, Torrent BBQ, True North, Shell, Chevron, Beer Store....
Climbers at crags who are "violating".

I would like to suggest that the pamphlet be made into a pdf and stored on Ray's server (or someone's). If the layout was on 8.5 x 11 paper and arranged for stapling in the middle, we could all share in the cost of printing. Then we could each download it, print copies at home and carry them with us in our packs for distribution.
I will be happy to help with the editing and layout if someone will write it (Paul and Bill?).

something attention grabbing on the front cover would be crucial, such as "Torrent Falls is closed to climbing" and then on the inside "this is very close to becoming a reality..."

Prior to seeing this thread, I put this together:
http://www.redpointdesign.com/rrg/torrent_notice.pdf
I put it together to specifically address Mark's concerns at Torrent, and so that it could be posted or passed out at gyms. Let me know if there are any problems or things that need to be changed.
