We'll have the MV trail building tools there early morning March 11.
Something else to think about. Most of you who have been to Torrent lately are aware that an infestation of Kudzu vine is threatening to destroy virtually all the vegetation, including trees, at Torrent -- both the Torrent Falls Hollow and all the land over to and including the Via Ferrata. This nasty plant moves at lightening speed, witnessed by the fact that only a few years ago, a tiny patch at Torrent has grown into acres. Mature trees have been engulfed and are dead or dying. It's sad to see the natural scenic beauty of this place wiped out.
Later in the year, when the Kudzu emerges from dormancy, some of us could mount an attack. To effectively erradicate this pest, it takes several applications of an expensive herbecide plus halting its advance at the "front lines."
Any suggestions? Maybe a special fund for herbecide and another "Kill Kudzu at Torrent" day in the summer. The MV folks will be happy to help.

i'd be willing to bet there are grants that would pay for anything to get rid of it.. it's the terror of the south and one of the worst invasive species around. maybe someone could be in charge of contacting the forest service, ketucky environmental protection, natural resources, sierra club, nature conservency, etc.

I thought I saw somewhere that goats will eat the stuff. Maybee we could get together with Miguel & his dad to get some of those creatures up there?
