My remote sensing class is boring. You can get the overlay at KYGEONET (KY GAP Stewardship), the NAIP imagery I got from my instructor and its a HUGE file.

The gray areas are private land, the bluish overlay signifies public land of some sort and the red lines are boundaries for RRG geologic area, Clifty Wilderness and Tight Hollow Research Area.

If you can interpret an aerial photo you can figure out what areas are what.

another option:

download arcexplorer 9.1 from http://www.esri.com. then you can download files from http://kymartian.ky.gov/

arcexplorer is a little limited but it's a start.

You can get maps printed at the Kentucky Geological Survey office in Lexington. Size is unlimited but can be a maximum of 3 feet wide. They are located on Rose Street on the UK campus and their phone number is 859-257-5500. I'm not really sure on the price but I would say that they would be fair.
