I think a friend of mine put it best. Climbing cracks is not actually rock climbing. Its climbing the space that is between rocks.

A wise young man that I think very highly of once told a new climber not to think about climbing up the rock but to think about pulling the rock down and past you. The young climber was unfortunately, one of the literal people. This information put his brain into a feedback loop and his head exploded! Yes, this can happen! I have seen it more than once, I think. Hell it is all now in the past......

Sometimes I dig it when bolting sport climbs. Its really acward climbing with a shovel and make sure your not attached to what your tossing off the route.

its not climbing if the back of my hand touches the rock
