Hey now!
The South Eastern USA has some good opportunities for short Alpine Climbs. If you don't know, fine, but for those who do, I would love to hear about it.
Places?
Locations?
Nearest Town?

The rest of you guys, you gotta stop da smoke! :D

I guess it depends on what you consider an alpine climb. To me it means rock, snow, and/or glacier climbs in the Cascades, Rockies, Andes, or other large mountain ranges. I'm always up for trips/climbs like that.

There was a thread on this on seclimbers.org the other day. Like do starshine then the OR or some kind of linkup like that.

Couple winters ago, we would go midnight skiing at perfect north, drive home, change, rock climb all day, then go back skiing that night.

Midnight skiing at Perfect North is fun! Even though the slopes aren't as great as out west, it's just a really pretty atmosphere with the dark sky and the lights and the freshly-groomed snow. Some of my friends and I were thinking about doing a midnight ski this weekend, but the weather at the Red is looking like it's going to be nice, and I think climbing trumps skiing! :)

oh yeah, just in case anyone doesn't make the ski part and goes climbing instead, make sure you don't go to military wall or funkrock city. we saw two FS officials there last week and they said no climbing for the next week because of some arch. site surveys.

Skied the Perfect North from 6:30 PM until about 2:45 AM. Was great until about 1 AM, and then the ice came in - though still a good day outside.

Next time, perhaps we can try to gather some folks. I heard there are $20 discounts for "groups".
