Mammut ropes for me! I've tried most of the others, but I'll only by Mammut now.

Best combination of suppleness and stiffness.

I have used a 10.2 PMI since moving to the Red. It is not a redpoint rope, but it takes repeated 30 footers from air canada and I on a regular basis and lasts.

Bad endurance = Cable-like rope = PMI

If I am on something that I can actually get to the anchors on, I like to borrow a Sterling 9.8 if available.

Mom's clothesline works pretty well but I have to take in her laundry from it before she leyts me use it. Then she gets all anal about me putting it back up when I get home.

After trying Blue Water ropes (which turn into static cables after a few months) and PMI ropes (which totally suck and swell up to twice their original size), I have returned to the PERFECT rope--MAXIM 9.8--60 meters. Perfect amount of rope stretch, very good handling and the sheeth does not wear out quickly. I have been using them for over 10 years and have never had a bad one.

I have also heard that Beal and Sterling are good--never tried one because I am so happy with the Maxim ropes. :D
