I know some people in the area. Though not a climbing hotspot, it's perhaps my favorite larger city. 3.5 hours from the Red and just over 2 to Chattanooga, where I hear there's some climbing.

um, Jackson Falls anyone? 2 hours to THE mecca of the midwest.

kings bluff is pretty cool - nice beach in the summer because its right on the lake, limestone walls, kinda slick but really fun!
