Getting a third party involved sounds like a wise move.
I suck even worse as a ski instructor. An no, she was climbing before I met her. Did I mention I met her on a climbing trip to Seneca Rocks?

Ben. I have a close friend that I climb with who has UC. I've been on a few week long trips with him when he was having episodes and I really hated to watch him suffer. He finally had the full removal and is in good shape and cranking hard. If you are interested I can pass you his email.

Id appreciate that. Mines not really too bad (considering what it could be). I don't take any meds (because the have only made it worse so far) and stick to diet restrictions and herbal/homeopathic remidies and prayer. It was working pretty good until recently (probably related to stress. working fulltime and shooting weddings near fulltime is taking its toll). It does tend to temper any desire to leave the house sometimes.
I'm hoping I don't have to go as far as surgery but its comforting to know he is still climbing strong afterwards (hope rules. lol).

i think dipsi said it best, learning by osmosis is a good way to go.
if she needs some "encouragement" then there are certainly nice awesome woman at CT cincy.
colleen is one that comes to mind instantaneously as well as tara.
just make friends and climbing becomes more fun.
plus, i don't think the people there bite, too often.
i'd definitely watch out for matt though, he has shifty eyes, small hands and smells vaguely of cabbage.
