and since we're almost on the topic: as for out and about, we do not say oooot and abooot. we say owt and abowt, with a very short ow. you americans, on the otherhand, say owwwt and abowwwt, with a very long owwww (and sometimes with a hint of aaowww).

my wife is scottish...you should hear her pronunciation of words. I like to tell her to speak English, and she likes to remind me that Scots do speak English. Here in the states we speak an Americanized bastardization of the grand ole language....

why do I always forget that America is a few hundred years old, and the rest of the world is like thousands of years ahead of us culturally. Can I blame this on Bush too, since the French do?
