I lived down there when Josh first showed up on a stolen bike he got in Lexington because someone stole his bike there so he figured an eye for an eye. Mark, the scraggly haired guy that works at Miguel's took him climbing the day after he arrived as a favor since it was Mark's rest day. They went to Torrent Falls where Josh decided to lead climb (he'd never tried it before) and proceeded to hang on the last bolt for 4 hours, refusing beta from Mark or to come down. After that fiasco, Josh followed Mark to Left Flank the next day and told Mark he would lead Infectious for him. After trying to politely tell him no, Josh soloed up another route, then jumped to a tree behind him, which bent clean over and dropped Josh on the ground.
Josh does have a temper, but all in all I think he's just a bit misguided and confused about life in general. After being caught stealing food from all the shelfs behind the picnic tables and using the stove of the guy who caught him, he replied "Oh sorry, I thought this was all communal food." My buddy then proceeded to explain that even if it was for all to share, you had to contribute something in return. There was lots of funny stories about him, including the park rangers hunting for him for several days because he was sitting under street lights at the lodge at night and reading, and scaring the guests. He left for a long time, only to return just in time for our wedding. He kept trying to steal the Ipod which was playing the music all night long

I take back what I said earlier....someone needs to thump him good just once. How old is he? Seriously, even the younger guys that hung around Miguels when we were there weren't theives and weren't dangerous. Like I said, someone needs to thump him.

he's probably about 19. I know he was a sophmore at IU

Dudes...don't blacklist this guy. Just be forewarned you will be in for an interesting day if you take him climbing. You fags, sound like a bunch of girls talkin about some guy who wears high-waters to school, or has thick glasses or some shit. Be "alpha" enough to chill his ass out and correct his apparently errant behavior. I mean damn. If someone had taken me under their wing (who didn't just want a cheap blow job in a truck stop bathroom) and actually tried to teach me something I would have been ten years ahead of where I am today. I'd hate to see this converstaion turn into a "beat up on Josh" fest.

Put yourself in his shoes. You've been there before. The Geek, The Fag, The Uncool guy, or the Dorky Chic that stuffs her bra. He has obviously fled something and is out on his own and that takes sack.

everyone who has taken him out has tried to teach him stuff, but he downright refuses to listen and he gets very defensive. I would not go take him out again, but you can feel free.

Although I wouldn't go climbing alone with Josh (I prefer a safe belay), I do want to defend him and say that I think he's a super nice guy. He's interesting, but not someone to fear.
