Yeah....I'm with you on that Merrick. It sure was a trick pony!!
So I think that if you're gonna be a dirtbagger. Live that lifestyle then a cheap station wagon is the way to go.

The Honda Element seems pretty sweet. A friend of mine had his new Element in Rifle, that thing was rad. Rubber flooring, the seats recline all the way (ALL the way) down, a ton of head room, and good on gas. I drove it a bit and was sold, when my S-10 kicks the bucket I'm going Japanese import. I agree with Merrick, you don't need a jacked up monster truck to get to the crag. Sleeping space, storage, and fuel economy are selling points on my next purchase.

I like the Element too, I didn't when they first came out - but it was purely because I didn't like the look of them. BUT I rode down to the Red in Erynn's and I really liked it. REALLY roomy and they advertise something like 64 seating configurations...cool.
I wonder what the Scion looks like inside, that box on wheels might be a cool craggin wagon....looks like it would have lots of room inside. At least enough for some black lights and a disco ball....essentials for a roadtrippin vehicle of course.

But GOD they're UGLY! Elements & Scions. Egads I'd never be caught dead buying one of those things.
I guess I don't care enough about actually living in my vehicle b/c I wouldn't own a station wagon or a minvan. Ever. Never evereverevereverever.
I would however, buy a newer Westie. I hear the older ones need a lot of maintenance & I don't have the skills to keep that up.

From all the westy people I've spoken to over the years newer ones are the same, and the interiors aren't as well built.diggum wrote:......I would however, buy a newer Westie. I hear the older ones need a lot of maintenance & I don't have the skills to keep that up.
Not to mention the eurovans don't have nearly as much flavor.
