What the article doesn't take into account is the personal preference in seeking high sensation. I have traveled all over and tried all sorts of strong sensations. I definately liked some and not others. That is why the article is silly to me. there are many many ways to exicte the senses climbing or junk are just two options.

Woodclimbers quote about risk management is brilliant. Heroin doesn't allow for much risk management therefore the risk of increasing the sensation with it is high enough to not be of interest. Climbing allows for an extreme amount of risk management in incremental bits.

It also fails to take in the values one is imbued with during their upbringing. A high sensation chaser isn't going to rob banks if they can't climb. They might do motor cross or skateboarding instead. I would suspect whether or not there is a gentic predisposition doesn't effect the environmental factors that determine which type of activity one participates in.

I wonder if there is any distinction between those who like quick rushes of adreniline(sky diving/coke) or slow and steady hightened sesations(climbing/LSD)

or maybe we are all just crazy.

I just want to taste all the thrills life has to offer......finally! If I die in the process, so be it! It will take the undertakers a week to get the smile off my face! :D
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

If someone could pack the feeling climbing gives you into a pill, Prozak would no longer exist.

better than anal leakage I say (that is my favorite side effect of a pill they advertise on tv...can't remember what it is for, but I do remember that it MAY cause anal leakage.)
