it sounds like yoiu interacted with a Millipede. Here's what the page says about millipede 'chemical warfare':

Millipedes are not poisonous, but many species have repugnatorial glands capable of producing irritating fluids which may produce allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to insects or insect toxins. A few millipede species are capable of squirting these fluids over a distance of several inches. Persons handling millipedes will notice a lingering odor on their hands and the fluid can be dangerous to the eyes. It is not advisable to handle millipedes, but when one has been held, hands should be washed with soap and water until the odor is completely gone.

Yuck! I say a big dome should be built over Muir Valley and all the gross and poisonous species expelled!

Yep. Found out it was a type of Northern Millipede. That was over two weeks ago, and the tissue has still not healed. There was a little necrosis -- kinda groady looking for a while.

Ask Johnathan about his black widow experience. If I wasn't there I would've thought the whole thing was made up.

If it is in the Gorge, and it crawls, flies, stings, bites, sucks blood, or shoots venom, it will eventually get me and render me a temporary invalid! Dern varmits! It's a plot, I tell ya!

Joe and Johnny were attacked by a bat in the middle of the day in Arrow Canyon - NV....Yas was there, she heard the screams from way down the canyon....unfortunately Johnny was at the anchors, cleaning and Joe was belaying...the bat went for Johnny first, Joe lowered him (swiftly) and they proceeded to run around each other, still tied in and screaming like little girls. The bat kept attacking (middle of the day remember, this bat had to have been sick) Johnny swatted with a clip stick and they eventually both got untied....Joe finally took the bat out with the stock of a gun. Batted the Bat if you will.


I got bit/stung whatever by a caterpillar/millipede (I didn't see it) it fell out of a tree I was standing under during a candlelight vigil just fter 9-11....I was shooting for a web newspaper and just as the choir cut off I let out this embarrassing scream. All I felt was it plop onto my neck and I reached back, felt lots of legs and freaked out. It burned so bad! Felt like I had pins lining my shirt around the shoulder area. I ended up on steriods for two weeks....and I am not allergic to ANYTHING! It was awful....and I come from where the woolly bear festival makes the caterpillar out to be all friendly and cuddly - whatever....Dick Goddard the weather man from Cleveland can kiss my ass - woolly bear festival....BLEH!

And one more - JB - that must have been the same wolf spider that inhabited our cabin for abit. We tried to squish it with a really long clip stick, but it hissed at us too and flattened out - then (I swear, I have witnesses) JUMPED OFF THE WALL STRAIGH AT US - swung back in and rappelled down to another wall beam - we poked again (after screaming a lot) and it flattened out and went between the slits in the boards.....ick - it was HUGE....you COULD HEAR IT WALK! I get the heeeeby geeeebies just thinkin bout him!!!!


OK those are my stories for now

Last weekend I saw the biggest s-p-i-d-e-r that I have ever seen my entire life! Fortunately he was about 20 feet away from me.

That wolf spider is still in your cabin Stacy. I had to ask him to scoot over one night as he was hogging all the covers. But he was nice enough to make coffee and oatmeal the next morning.

...and for the record those were not my screams. The bat was just very vocal in his screaches.

haha - that's cool, as long as the wolf s-p-i-d--e-r cooks and cleans, I guess he can stay....maybe we can get him a little apron - fitting him with 8 oven mits may get a little pricey though.

....and uh, sorry, those were not your screams, it was just Joe...and the bat. That's what I meant to say the first time.
