got any facts for that perps/law enforcement link? why spread more rumors unless it can be substantiated? however, if you do know of a link, then let's turn it over.

one thing i can't shake: where/how are they selling all this climbing gear?

I have been approached three different times within the last year at different crags by shady people selling climbing gear. They always have some story on how they got out of climbing and need money so they are selling their gear.

While the perps are most likely from the area, they might also be non-locals. And no, I don't have any info. just speculation. Thought I'd try to espouse every scenario.
