Add Matt and Amy, Horatio, Pete, any other obvious omissions.

I will post one more thing tonight.
What we need-
cameras, video cameras, walkie talkies (would be nice),
a bunch of people to say "I am there, dude."
I say lets rendevous at Miguels Sat morn, say around 10 am. Divied up (based on where people want to climb, I guess.)
Modify the plan on sight if need- and get this mother fucker done!
I want to catch these sons of bitches with enough evidence to make Tom Hall's job easy and Judge Trude's responsibilty obvious.

Ok, I didn't want to post this in the open forums, but I figure it is safe here. I don't think you want to let these people leave the area. I know that would require some sort of intervention, but if you let them leave then you have no idea where they will go.
I know that with us watching the parking lots that we should be able to catch the perps in the act and take the appropriate action very quickly, and ideally none of the cars would have anything of any value in them, but it they do get anything it will be gone before they are apprehended. Plus, the damage they will do getting into a car is not cheap to repair.
Before this weekend, I didn't realize how big of a problem this was, but now that I am having to get my car fixed (luckily I only have to pay the deductible) and having to dispute the ~$1300 worth of charges they managed to get on my debit card (that has my picture on it) before I could cancel it, I see how serious this really is.
I want to catch these guys as badly as anyone, but I really think that we need to have a plan that puts everyone and their property in as little danger as possible. If just watching the lots and documenting the crime is what is recommended then I guess that's the best we can do, but that just doesn't seem like enough.

tsparks,
I hear you on the difficulty of standing back and watching.
Here is what I have heard from the KSP in the Beattyville/ Lee Co area.
It is no secret who these people are or where they live. The Police know where to find them. They are a very known quantity in the community- i.e. everyone knows these folks are scumbags and want to put them away. They just need the eveidence.
So, if they do the deed and get away, but this time we have it on tape, the KSP can make the collar.
Here is the thing about these people as best I can tell. (this opinion comes from my dealings with them in the Emergency Departments of Eastern KY). They are full rednecks. They have already spent time in Jail for like crimes. The violent ones get real time. the petty ones get time depending on how problematic they are toward the community. They are allmost likely drug addicts (oxycontin, lortab, xanax, various other pills, and a lot of meth and coke).
I don't think we would want to tempt this with the idea of possibly adding a violent act onto a petty crime. They might. These folks are use to violent means or are at least not too many steps away from it. Aggressive law enforcement tactics should be reserved for the law.
