You can also chase shade at tower rock. Not a great crag, but a couple of good lines out there.
At military, you can do Jungle beat, and a few sportlines, then go do GI and a couple sport lines.

Princess arch has north facing routes.

The dome is north facing.
Half moon is north facing.
Buzzard's roost has a few foutes, some will be in the shad, depending on the time.
The quiet side of roadside is pretty cool, lots of shade.

Pistol Ridge always seemed cooler, 5.6 to 5.10.

Pawilkes.....if you life in Madison why don't you climb at Devil's Lake? The weather's cooler there compared to the RRG during the summer.

I'll check to see if there are any trad lines between the towers at Blue Heron. It's like air conditioning in there.
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

im living in louisville for the summer so the red is my crag right now. i'll be back in madison in september and plan on getting alot of days in at the lake.

young'n, you're a friggen idiot but im sure you've heard that. devils lake may not be a sport climbers grid bolted paradise but it does have great trad climbing. just stop being an idiot for once, im sure the whole board would appreciate it.

Devil's Lake is great for technical climbing on vertical rock and super clean cracks. A dip in the clear blue water is perfect for the end of a hot summer day and the bouldering circuits are ideal for getting that evening fix or a few hard moves between routes.

bu...bu...bu...bullshit. Sure the bouldering at D.L. is O.K. but why drive to D.L. for O.K. bouldering when you can drive to So. Il. for awesome bouldering. The rock is super slipery, and absolutely no fun. Yes, it is fun though to swim in the lake, cept' for the chemical rash it gives you.

lets see, get to DL in 45 minutes or drive 5-6 hours to get to So Ill. i think the answer (for me) is pretty understandable. and it all depends on what kind of climbing you're doing. its a great place to learn how to climb trad.
