I can jump out of a plane and I've bungee jumped but I can't take a 5-ft fall. I'd rather spend all my energy down climbing to my last bolt and screaming TAKE! Actually, that's what I've been doing, although I did take a surprise 4-ft fall in the gym two nights ago.

If you succeed with this one, kneebar, pls do let me know how!

well i agree with wes and terry. u need a good belayer and if you trust ur belayer than climb above the bolts and psotiton yourself to where you won;t get caught up in the rope and let go. take a series of falls and then u will be able to push urself. my head is decent but some days its not. we all have good ones and bad ones. i believe alot of people get scared of falling because they don;t know where the rope is. if u pay attention to the rope and know where it needs to be when ur in certain body position this can help as well so all ur falls will be clean.

squeezindlemmon, I feel for you, I am exactly the same way.

I got to stay off the top ropes on overhanging routes, technicaly I get better and can climb harder. But it keeps me in my comfort zone when leading sport. Kills the lead head.

Really do apreciate the sugestions :D

What they said. But don't think you won't hit the rock just because the route is overhanging. I was on the couch for 2 months once because I was really going for it on a training day and fell while throwing from the sidepull at the top of High Hard One. I spun sideways and slammed the wall HARD!. You have to learn how to fall in control. That only comes with practice. For the climber and the belayer

Is may just be alot harder to get over the fear of falling when you have been hurt falling. It's like getting back on a horse after you fell off it. You just have to get use to taking casual falls.

Stew, you've got all this spare time and post on every thread but you can't run a friggin' spell check. Rhino said that you type like you screw; I wasn't sure what he meant and now I'm afraid to give it any thought.

I'm scared out of my wits when I try to lead. I'm on easy stuff that I've climbed clean many times, but take away my security blanket and I go nuts. It's such a head game with me! Of course, I just naturally suck at climbing too.
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
