KD, you have spoken at length on both bears and snakes. What makes you a resident expert? Or are you one of those people that just have to type all the damn time?

I knew those were bear prints! That's so cool. But, why would it be walking along the trails?

I heard that Jared got a pair of fake bear-print shoes for his birthday.

So much mis-information and falsehoods about bears out there, it is kinda sad. I did a ton of solo backpacking in yellowstone, glaicer, etc. and spent many hours reading and researching bears, along with several days of volunteer work at a bear rescuce org. If you really want to know more, then do some research.

I'm pretty sure the tracks are not fake. I was the first one down there sunday, and saw the tracks, and they don't have the gait of human steps. Also, there were marks for both the front and back claws, so, unless he had four of them, and teleported down there sunday morning, they are real.

Also, I looked for cub tracks, but I did not see any.

I seriously doubt that a grizzley would be that far south. Besides, the paws should be twice that size for an adult.

Does it have a name yet?

South? Maybe you mean east?

I would guess it is a younger male - they are the ones that wander around the most.
