They did know the rapeller that got killed at Denial.They didnt know the difference between climbing and rapping though.

My girlfriend is a Lexington police officer (not on patrol though). I also know a few others who climb and they are pretty cool too.

At Denial? I thought it was Eagle Pt Buttress.

There was a rappelling ax a couple of years ago at Eagle Pt Buttress around that waterfall area. Some guy from Northern KY, I believe, was doing some rap tricks and decked. I think they got him out, but he died at the hospital. Search the old KYwilderness threads.

I have climbed with an individual involved in law enforcement. Once we were at the crag and someone asked if anybody had anything to smoke . My friend in law enforcement said, "Did you know that I'm a police officer?" The climber asking about the smoke reacted in . We both got a great because my officer friend looked at smoking as a personal choice when he was off duty and was jerking their chain.

I was climbing with a cop once and this dude near us was being really annoying. The cop pulled out his gun and shot the dude's rope. The guy was only on a 5.8 but started sketching really bad when he saw that he was soloing. We were cracking up at how bad he was elvising. My friend and I started taking bets on whether he would crater or not. Soon as the dude got to the top (about ten feet past the anchors....uncharted mud territory) and started mantling over the top, the cop shot him in the ass. The dude landed right on a rock and died. It was messed up. Cops are crazy! Do NOT mess with cops! They WILL SHOOT YOU! They will pull out their big gigantic GUNS and SHOOT YOU RIGHT IN THE HEAD. Cops are COMPLETELY CRAZY. If you do not believe me, ask my friend. He is a cop and WILL shoot you if you tell him you do not think he is CRAZY!

My cop friend tells me that cops are the best source for getting drugs. You gotta love that irony... Since I don't use, I've never tested that claim.

I was on a plane once with a guy who I am now friends with. At the time I didn't know his occupation and our conversation ranged from everything to how the 777 could start a new club (the mile high orgy club - the bathrooms are HUGE!) and how with my luck if I hired a hit on my ex it would be with an undercover cop. Turns out he is a FBI Special Agent.
